Under-TV Soundbar Clearance (Optional Check)
Optional · Fit check
Already picked a compact bar? This is a quick under-stand sanity check — not “start here.”
Measure height, depth, and remote-sensor clearance once so a tight stand doesn’t force a return. No buy boxes on this page. Value picks live on the compact soundbars guide.
Quick tape method
- TV on its final stand, on the final surface.
- Vertical clearance: measure from console top up to the lowest point of the TV bottom bezel. Record inches and mm (inches × 25.4).
- Adjustable stand? Measure both positions; buy for the one you keep.
- Depth: check free shelf space in front of the feet / pedestal toe.
- Width / IR: inner gap between feet; don’t block the IR sensor on the TV bezel.
- Photo your tape reading.
Fit rule (short)
| Rule | Practical threshold |
|---|---|
| Must fit | Bar height (mm) < measured clearance |
| Comfortable | Leave about 0.5–1” (13–25 mm) spare |
| Depth | Bar depth must clear TV feet / pedestal toe |
Worked example (math only — not a site hands-on claim): a ~50.5 mm (2.0”) bar needs roughly ≥65–75 mm (~2.6–3.0”) clearance for a comfortable spare.
Example clearances (method only)
These are operator / retailer examples — not Apartment Audio Lab lab measurements. Re-measure your exact TV.
| Pattern | Approx. clearance |
|---|---|
| Roku Pro Series table stand — high / low | ~3.25” high / ~1.625” low (operator reference) |
| LG OLED C3 55” pedestal | ~2.1” (~53 mm) — Best Buy Q&A / LG Care |
| LG OLED C4 77” pedestal | ~2.2” (~56 mm) — LG Care via Best Buy Q&A |
Got your number? Match it to the height/depth on the compact value picks or Atmos + sub kits.
Caveats
- No “fits every TV.” Feet, IR sensors, logos, and adjustable stands vary.
- Depth and width fail as often as height on apartment consoles.
